Welcome to the website of The Craig Mountain Boys, Company C, of the
28th Virginia Infantry Regiment.
Our mission as re-enactors, is to offer to the public, a faithful
impression of this venerable company and regiment of Southern
soldiers who fought for home and hearth, between 1861 and 1865.
As part of General George Pickett's Division, brigaded with other
Virginia troops under first General Kemper, then General Garnett,
and finally, General Hunton, the 28th was in the thick of the
fighting from First Manassas through Appomattox.
We strive to bring honor and remembrance to those gallant men who
risked all, for the prospect of independence, through re-enactments,
living histories, school programs, and other opportunities to
portray the common Virginia soldier.
We are a sober, family-oriented company, with a combination of
campaigners and tent-camp participants. Church services take place
in camp on Sundays, and are open to all who might join in worship.
Gilham's Manual of Instruction is our drill guide, and this company
and regiment have been part of Longstreet's Corps, since the unit's
inception in 1993.
